Piers Newman B.Sc. (Hons), Dip. H.E., P.G. Dip., M.Sc. (Family Therapy)


Piers started Therapy 4 Family having worked in the NHS for 22 years. He has spent much of his career helping people who suffer from a wide variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties and mental health problems.

​Piers has worked exclusively as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist for eight years, having previously worked as a Mental Health Nurse Therapist and Psychotherapist for ten years. 

He trained at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience while working at the Maudsley Hospital in London, initially in a specialist psychotherapeutic day unit for people with a diagnosis of personality disorder then subsequently for the Family Therapy Service in the Psychotherapy Department at the Maudsley Hospital.

He then worked in the Intensive Psychological Therapies Service at Lewisham Hospital before moving to Ipswich in 2014 to take on a role as a Family Therapist and Course Tutor developing family therapy in Suffolk.


Piers is a member of the Association for Family Therapy and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.


He is fully insured and has an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.
